Colorado Springs Ranks #36 in Top 100 Metro Areas for Increase in Home Value Over the Last Year
The Federal Housing Finance Agency (www.fhfa.org) collects information on home purchases within Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA) to track the change in home values over time.
In 2021, Colorado Springs ranked #36 out of the top 100 MSAs for increase in home values over the year.
The last quarter of 2021 shows a 1.3% rise in house prices over the third quarter, with an overall 18.1% rise over the last year. The national average, in comparison, shows a 17.5% rise in house prices over that same year.
Looking over the years of 2001 through 2021, Colorado home values have appreciated by 177.3%! All four quarters of 2021 showed a positive increase in value, as you can see in the chart below. Since 1992, appreciation of home values in the city has averaged 5.9% annually.
