My mom passed away last year and none of us kids were going to live in the family home, so we wanted to sell it as-is. The goal was to have everything out of the house and cleaned up in a week, then handle the rest from a distance. The biggest thing was making sure we could trust our agent. We needed them to be our eyes and ears and advocate for us. When it came to negotiating, we wanted to make sure that if buyers asked for something, we could handle it through concessions rather than doing work on the house. We found Lauren through Dave Ramsey’s referral website. We interviewed two real estate agents, and Lauren was clearly the best fit for us. She was methodical and always told us the straight truth. That gave us confidence. Even when something wasn’t favorable, she was honest about trade-offs. Like, with a popcorn ceiling, buyers may ask for a concession. Having straight truth like that, versus trying to massage the truth to make you feel good, was actually a huge benefit. We had an additional challenge that we couldn’t sell for three months because the house had a transfer-on-death title instead of going through probate. So we started the process in November and had to wait three months for closing. That made it tricky to keep the house in good condition through the winter. Lauren came by several times to make sure things were okay. She really looked after the place. We were happy at every turn — with her service, advice, communication, everything. It was exactly as advertised, and we got the price she predicted. She was incredible. It’ll be hard for any other real estate agent to beat her in the future if we have to sell again.
